I photographed this Black Kite as it circled above the Loddon River near Kerang, Victoria. Black Kites are a medium sized raptor and are distributed across the majority of inland Australia. They prey on lizards, small mammals and insects (especially grasshoppers). The large locust plauge thet Central Victoria is currently experincing would be providing an abundant food source for ther Kites.
