Today, 16th September, is International Plover Appreciation Day. This day aims to raise awareness of ground-nesting plovers around the world. I wanted to share these photos of Hooded Plovers which I took nearly 10 years ago on the beach near Sorrento in Victoria. Hooded Plovers are considered the most threatened beach-nesting bird species in Australia.
