Carp, introduced into Australia in the 1850s and 60s as a sport fish, have become a major threat to waterways within the Murray Darling Basin. Some of the impacts that Carp have include disturbing waters through bottom dwelling feeding and competing with native fish for food and spawning sites. It is currently an offence in Australia to return any caught Carp back to the water. This photo was taken of a Carp feeding at Red Bed Swamp at Mathoura.
