I photographed this Great Egret while in Coleambally on the weekend. While walking through a White Cypress Pine forest on the edge of town I came accross a breeding colony of Great Egrets. This was quite a surprise as I have lived in Coleambally for 4 years and have never seen the Egrets nesting in this forest. The Great Egret measures 41 to 49 cm, and is the largest of the Australian Egrets.
